Our second visit, everything is just as good as the first time. Fishing has been superb, accommodation spot on, lots of walks and wildlife – good food and wine! The weather could have been better on our second week, but we did manage some sunbathing and swimming.

Thanks for everything Peter and Marion and we hope to see you again before too long.

What a fabulous environment Pete and Marion have created for us to enjoy a great holiday! Our Pete thinks he is in heaven when he’s fishing down on the lake watching and listening to all the wild-life he so much enjoys. We’ve also visited some lovely countryside and villages during our trip as well as Perigueux a beautiful city.

We came for a family holiday and to spend a lot of time together. It’s a credit to the accommodation and fishing that we didn’t want to venture out of here too many times.

The accommodation is out of this world with attention to detail beyond what we have seen before. George will agree the pool is AMAZING and maintained so well.

The fishing – we got so many fish of a lifetime and everything was beyond our expectations – 2 x 50’s, 5 x 40’s and 17 x 30’s!!!! If we had not caught, the view, lakes, nature was more than enough to catch anyone!!!!!

We have to credit Marion and Peter for assistance and advice and being such wonderful hosts. From now on, every time I see a Kingfisher, I will think of Marion.

PS – the dogs and cats are lovely……………….!!!!!!!!

Many thanks

What Can We Say!!!!!!

It’s our last night, reflecting on a totally awesome holiday. From start to finish Peter and Marion were the prefect hosts – friendly, helpful but not intrusive. Hubbie enjoyed his fishing day after day, especially on his birthday – catching 6 fish. Marion baked him a lovely cake – very touched. Accommodation was just perfect and the pool and surrounding area at the property were well maintained and beautiful. Highly recommend a day out at Piegut market and also Brantome – boat trip was lovely around a very beautiful place. Weather was far hotter than we expected  – up to 37.5! But we did not complain – not with that lovely pool to cool off in!

We really do hope we have the opportunity to return. Thanks a million Peter and Marion for helping us v=create wonderful memories.

Fantastic two week stay! Fishing was so much better than last year. Great surroundings, great hosts in a beautiful setting – what more can you ask for. Bordeaux was fantastic, 35 mins on the TGV – puts the UK to shame! Man made lake visit was good and the Irish Bar opposite great value for lunchtime meals. The Adventure Park at Massignac was great for James and a nightmare for us. The market at Piegut Pluviers was a massive surprise and I would recommend it to future guests. (16 fish caught including a 59.8lbs mirror and 3 other 50’s).

In 2011/2012, I was set a task to find a holiday with a lake which was big enough to accommodate at least 5 fishermen, with fish (carp) of 40lb plus and with accommodation which would house a group of 12/14 minimum with two or more bathrooms and ideally two kitchens. And not forgetting a pool for the kids and all of this for two weeks in the summer holidays!

Now this was proving to be quite a challenge but as luck would have it, after looking on many websites for fishing holidays in France, I came across Puyravaud and what a fantastic find it has turned out to be!

Our first visit was in 2012 with 8 adults and 6 children, Marion and Peter really didn’t know what they had let themselves in for, especially as our van broke down a couple of miles away from Puyravaud and Peter had to help rescue us!

The holiday whilst stressful in parts was brilliant, the accommodation surpassed expectations, beautifully renovated and converted Barn and Cottage both with all the mod cons you could possibly need a real home from home with plenty of space for all the family!  Plus, that all important swimming pool and a pool table to keep the kids (and adults) occupied.

All the fishermen were happy, 5 good sized swims and some descent catches, a bit of rivalry going on and a personal best or three achieved!

We decided before the holiday had even finished that we would definitely be back.  Little did we know it would be every year.

Puyravaud is such a wonderful place to stay and thoroughly recommended for the fishing and as a family retreat/holiday.  It is far enough away from everything to enjoy the tranquil setting and country walks, yet near enough by car to main road routes and country lanes to explore rural France.

As our family has grown up and more fishermen emerged, Puyravaud has also evolved providing two beautiful, tranquil lakes to fish.  In 2017 two PB’s achieved after catching a Mirror Carp of 59lb on Kingfisher Lake and a 53lb Common on Heron Lake.

But for us it’s not all about the fishing, each year we look to find other activities and with the help of Peter and Marion booking for us, we have enjoyed Laser Quest, Go Karting, Tree Climbing, The Velo Rail (not for the faint hearted) and bowling. Not to mention a trip to the man-made beach with Kayaks, horse riding and ice-creams.    We have also ventured further afield to Royan with its beautiful beach, Bordeaux for shopping and wine tasting, to Cognac to learn how it is distilled and for the tasting of course!  Not to mention a trip to Limoges (including the airport to pick up a late arrival) a good excuse for lunch and of course more shopping.  Plus, some lovely restaurant meals in the various locations we have visited.

A massive “Thank You” to Marion and Peter who have welcomed us back every year, always accommodating the varying numbers, vehicles and birthdays (Marion makes an excellent Lemon Drizzle Cake!) We look forward to returning yet again in 2018.

The Ruthvens

Our first visit to Puyravaud, we were made very welcome. The cottage is first class and the lakes are excellent. Fishing was very good and the boys caught 6 x 50’s and 10 x 40’s + a few smaller.

Peter and Marion were great hosts with loads of info on the area. We were very impressed with our holiday and would love to return in the future.

Best wishes John, Cora, Peter, Robert and Victoria.

Lovely barn, great lakes and superb views!!!!! First visit, enjoyed staying out on the patio with the BBQ + gin + wine till late. Pete and Marion were the perfect hosts!

We came first and foremost for a family holiday so fishing came second. That said we had some great fishing and the families loved the pool and the countryside. First visit………..not the last.

See you again very soon!

First and foremost a family holiday for our group of 11.We only fished 4-5 hours a day, mostly 8am until noon. Most fish came on garlic and liver boilies, a few on wafters. Fantastic lake, the 30’s fight like stink!!!!!! Weather very changeable, hot, cool, rain, wind, calm etc etc – fantastic place, great lake, superb R&R.
