We are very fortunate to have this view just outside our back door! Many times we take it for granted or miss it just because we are busy doing something else. But now and again, you just have to stop and look! Maybe, it’s the time of year and the coloured reflections of the trees in the water or maybe it’s your frame of mind at the moment you walk by. Not too profound I hope – just me in reflective mood!

Here’s to not taking it for granted too often!

Marion and I just wanted to thank all of our customers, new and old for making 2016 our biggest and best year for bookings.

After the traumas with the dam wall in 2015, it was great to have a really successful year with bookings up 26% on our previous biggest year. We saw many familiar faces returning and some new ones that we hope will become regulars. As a result, we got to the point for the first time, where we were politely pushing people to book in 2017 and 2018 as we reached the limit of bookings for the first time.

We continue to invest, having just added 33 new fish weighing between 25-28lbs, to Heron Lake in order to try and get the right fishing balance in both lakes for 2017 and beyond.

If you are thinking of booking a trip with us in 2017, please book early as we look like we will reach our limit again in the next few months. Bookings for the Summer Holiday period are pretty much gone except for a few weeks in the Cottage and we are already almost 50% booked for the same period on 2018.

Keep looking for updates on the site and once again thanks to all our customers who visited in 2016.

We look forward to 2017 and seeing many of you again!

As promised, we have added to our stock in Heron Lake. Thursday saw us take delivery of 33 new fish with weights between 25-28lbs, all young fish that should grow on quickly once they settle in.

This takes our stock in Heron up to 140 fish over 20lbs and should ensure catch levels are up in 2017. We have also added a number of smaller stock fish to grow on as our next generation meaning we have around 170 carp in the lake.

Each year, we try and find the right balance to ensure the fishing is challenging but not too difficult for our visitors, most of whom, also want to enjoy some time with the family on trips out or just chill round the lovely pool area.

Time will tell, but these new fish will certainly help spruce up the fishing!
